Sammy Sosa, who holds the record for most home runs in a month, set this year, currently has nailed 35 balls over the fence for a home run, and is on pace to tie Maris' record of 62.

40 homeruns. He is on pace to shatter Roger Maris' record and establish a new one; a record of 72.
